Cody Gakpo has summed up his first Liverpool training session with a positive three-word message.

On Thursday, images of Gakpo in training had surfaced for the first time since his arrival from PSV Eindhoven in January.

The Dutch international has come to Jurgen Klopp’s side with a big reputation. For starters, Gakpo has been making the headlines for tearing things up at PSV for a number of years now.

In the 2022/2023 season, the 23-year-old has registered an impressive 9 goals and 12 assists in the Eredivisie.

At the World Cup as well, Cody Gakpo justified the hype around his name by emerging as the Netherlands’ finest performer.

In 5 matches in Qatar, the versatile forward struck 3 goals.

And what was perhaps most impressive was the fact that Gakpo was operating away from his usual left-wing position as a striker.

Yet, the positional shift did not halt the Dutchman, whose finishing was of the standard that most world-class strikers would be proud of.

Now, the 35 million (Guardian) man has had his say on training with the Reds.

“Blessed & grateful”, Gakpo captioned his picture from training on Instagram.

Gakpo and his seeming positivity could revitalise the squad

Look, we’re not suggesting for even a second that just because Cody Gakpo is coming across as a positive presence, Liverpool will be back to normal.

However, new January signings can often add that effect to the side, as their desire to start pushes the rest to pull up their socks as well.

Gakpo could well have such an impact, if he continues to be all smiles in Liverpool training, as his 3-word message suggests.
