Coco Gauff has built a strong following on the WTA Tour, thanks to her performances in both singles and doubles play.

She’s had major success as a singles player, collecting 11 titles and reaching as high as No. 2 in the rankings.

Gauff, now 21, is a two-time Grand Slam winner. Her immediate focus is on the Dubai Tennis Championships, which has just got started.

She heads into the WTA 1000 event coming off a first-round exit at the Qatar Open and holding a 7-3 record for the year.

Now seeded third in Dubai, Gauff has moved up one spot to fourth in the rankings ahead of her opening match of the tournament.

Coco Gauff was recently asked by DDF Tennis Championships on Instagram to name her closest friend in tennis.

She replied: “My best friends in tennis… there’s a few but I would say Caty McNally, Eva Lys, Vicky Mboko, Jess Pegula, Giuliana Olmos, Des Krawczyk.”

Gauff could potentially face Pegula again in the final, after losing their first-round match-up back in 2022. But Mboko is already out of the Dubai event this year through injury.

Is Jessica Pegula Coco Gauff’s go-to doubles partner?

Throughout her career, Gauff has played both singles and doubles, often sharing the court with some of her closest friends.

She recently teamed up with Mboko at the Qatar Open, although the pair exited early after dropping their opening match in Doha.

Before that, she partnered with McCartney Kessler in Montreal last year, where they went on to win the title. Earlier in Rome, she played alongside Alexandra Eala.

But it’s been her partnership with Pegula that has brought the most titles. The two have won together in Doha and Miami in 2023 and picked up additional trophies in Doha, Toronto and San Diego back in 2022.

Gauff has also had success playing with McNally, collecting wins in Parma, Washington DC and Luxembourg.

The list of players she’s shared the court with includes Taylor Townsend, Erin Routliffe, Leylah Fernandez, Jelena Ostapenko and Venus Williams. But it’s Pegula who stands out as her most frequent partner.

A former world number one in doubles, Gauff holds a 149-67 record across her career so far.
