Coco Gauff and Iga Swiatek may be set for another clash, this time at the United Cup, with a USA-Poland matchup in the semifinals still a possibility.

Gauff led the way as the US beat Greece to reach the last four. Poland still have work to do, needing to get past Australia to secure their spot.

If Poland does advance, it would set up a rematch of the 2025 United Cup final, where Gauff came out on top against Swiatek on her way to winning the title.

Despite that result, Swiatek holds a strong head-to-head record against Gauff on tour, with 11 wins from their 15 meetings so far.

Gauff has already spoken about the possibility of facing Swiatek again, a year after their last meeting, which she won 6-4, 6-4.

Reflecting on their history, she said: “I mean, obviously we’ve played each other a lot of times. Last year I had a good match against her.

“Yeah, I’m looking forward to the battle. I feel like when I’m playing great tennis, it puts a lot of pressure on them. Yeah, I’m looking forward to that.”

Back in 2025, Gauff finished off an unbeaten singles run by beating Swiatek again and then Taylor Fritz closed out the tie for Team USA with his win over Hubert Hurkacz.

Gauff praises Maya Joint ahead of potential meeting

Gauff has also been asked about another possible opponent, this time on the Australian side of the draw.

If Australia get past Poland, Gauff could face Maya Joint, who has been turning heads on the WTA Tour. The American is expecting a competitive match if it comes to that.

Speaking about Joint, Gauff said: “Maya, I’ve never played her, but obviously a great talent, can play really well, ball strike can be really clean.”

“Either way, I’ll have my hands full, but I’m just excited to go to Sydney and hopefully play some good tennis.”

Joint missed Australia’s opener through illness and later lost to Barbora Krejcikova. However, Australia still managed 2-1 wins over both Norway and Czechia in their ties.

Alex de Minaur had already called Joint ‘incredible’ before the tournament began. Now she’s got her sights set on pulling off a big upset against Swiatek.
