Carlisle United coach Eric Kinder has revealed to the League Two club’s official website that he warned Mark Gillespie about a move to Newcastle United.
Gillespie signed for Newcastle last week, as he made a return to his boyhood club.
The 28-year-old goalkeeper is likely to provide back-up for Martin Dubravka during his time at St. James’ Park.
But Kinder has some doubts about the move, despite Gillespie’s understandable excitement over the transfer.
“You can tell in his face and his voice that he’s so thrilled about going back,” Kinder said.
“I have my doubts about the game time he’ll get, and I told him that.
“I’ve spoken to Mark and he’s absolutely delighted because he never thought this day would come.

“You can tell in his face and his voice that he’s so thrilled about going back. I have my doubts about the game time he’ll get, and I told him that.
“It worries me because he’s been a first team goalkeeper and he’s used to playing games, so it will be interesting to see how he handles it. I’m only worried about him because I like him.”
Since leaving Newcastle as a youngster, Gillespie has got used to playing regularly in the lower leagues.
The 6ft 3inch stopper has made over 250 appearances in both England and Scotland during the course of his career.
His game time at Newcastle is set to be far more limited, with competition to be second choice fierce.
Newcastle already have Freddie Woodman and Karl Darlow at the club, so Gillespie will have to prove himself in training to earn a spot in Steve Bruce’s side.
