Manchester City have made a breakthrough in their hunt for Jack Grealish with a deal now in the advanced stages.
According to the Athletic, the Premier League champions are in advanced talks with Aston Villa over the England international. Moreover, the 25-year-old playmaker is one of City’s top targets this summer.
Harry Kane remains a priority for Pep Guardiola’s side. However, it appears that a deal for Grealish looks more promising for City than the Tottenham striker. Furthermore, Daniel Levy is keen to retain his star striker this window.
Grealish has been one of Villa’s best players since their return to the Premier League in 2019.
Indeed, the winger also starred for England in Euro 2020 where the Three Lions made it to the final.
Whilst a creative midfielder might not seem like a priority for City this summer, but Grealish has been a target for the Cityzens for some time.
The winger was once a target for Manchester United, but the Red Devils interest will likely die down following the arrival of Jadon Sancho.
Moreover, with Kevin De Bruyne starting to show signs of age with the Belgian international picking up niggling injuries, Grealish would be a great long-term successor for the City icon.
