Scottish clubs should be trying to sign Jack Aitchison on loan from Celtic.

Jack Aitchison of Celtic celebrates scoring during the UEFA Youth Champions League match between Celtic and Valencia at Celtic Park on February 10, 2016 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Celtic are still likely to do a bit of business before the transfer window closes, but it remains to be seen if any club will come in for Jack Aitchison.

It is a little bemusing that Scottish teams are not knocking on Celtic’s door, trying to secure a loan deal for the promising young striker.

It is two years since Aitchison scored on his debut for Celtic at just 16, and he remains one of the most promising talents in Scotland.

His chances at Celtic appear blocked, with Moussa Dembele, Leigh Griffiths, and Odsonne Edouard all blocking his path to first team action.

Dundee United were reportedly keen on signing Aitchison in early June [via Evening Telegraph], but nothing came of it.

Academy football can only sustain Aitchison for so long, and a loan deal will be of greater benefit to him.

The young striker is just 18, and has three first team goals to Celtic to his name.

Aitchison has six goals in eight games at under-19 level for Scotland, and his next step has to be playing competitive football, whether that be in the Scottish Premiership or Championship.

Clubs in Scotland should be pushing to sign the young forward in the final few days of the window, but Celtic should be actively trying to find the teenager a loan.
