Barcelona do not want to send Ousmane Dembele out on loan amid interest from Liverpool, according to France Football.

It has been reported by the French publication that Liverpool have made contact with Barcelona regarding the transfer of Dembele.

The Premier League champions want to sign the 23-year-old France international on a loan deal, but Barcelona prefer to sell him to raise cash, although new manager Ronald Koeman is happy to keep the youngster in his team this season, according to the report.

Barcelona spell

Dembele has been on the books of Barcelona since 2017 when he joined from Borussia Dortmund.

Much was expected of the France international when he arrived at Camp Nou, but injuries have affected the progress of the 23-year-old – whose “pace is frightening in training”, according to his Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi, as quoted in GiveMeSport in March 2020.

According to WhoScored, the youngster played just five times in La Liga last season, while in 2018-19, he made 20 starts in the league and in 2017-18 he played 931 minutes in the league.

A loan move for Dembele would make sense for Liverpool, but given how good he is and the talent he has, it is hard to see Barcelona agree to such a deal.
