Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares is now wanted by Wolfsburg as they look to spend after selling Micky van de Ven to Tottenham Hotspur.
Wolfsburg have sold defender Micky van de Ven to Tottenham Hotspur and could reinvest in Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares.
That is according to Sky Sports, who claim that Wolfsburg are now battling Werder Bremen for Tavares.
It’s stated that Arsenal want to sell Tavares now around £13million just two years after signing him from Benfica for £8million.
Tavares seems to have absolutely no future at Arsenal after returning from a year-long loan spell at Marseille.
It’s stated that Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen want Tavares but face a battle with clubs in England and Italy too.
Arsenal certainly won’t stand in the left back’s way and Tavares could be one of a number of players to move on in the final weeks of the transfer window.
Nicolas Pepe, Alex Runarsson, Folarin Balogun and Kieran Tierney could go whilst Matt Turner is on the verge of joining Nottingham Forest.

Arsenal could offload Nuno Tavares thanks to Tottenham Hotspur
Wolfsburg are looking to invest in new signings having somewhat ironically sold a key man to Tottenham Hotspur today.
Defender Micky van de Ven has completed a move to Tottenham, believed to be worth £34million rising to £43million.
The Dutchman has been linked with Spurs for months now but Tottenham have finally landed their man.

Whilst Van de Ven has played as a left back at times, Tavares certainly wouldn’t be a like-for-like replacement for him.
Yet that kind of cash windfall could help Wolfsburg go and sign targets such as Tavares, with a left back a top priority regardless of Van de Ven’s move.
It’s not often we see Tottenham helping Arsenal but their move for Van de Ven could inadvertently assist the Gunners in offloading an unwanted player in Tavares.
