Napoli are reportedly looking to use a loophole in Italy’s legal system to increase the value of Victor Osimhen’s contract, with Liverpool and Tottenham interested in signing the attacker.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via Football Italia, the Serie A leaders are looking into whether or not Osimhen qualifies for a clause in the so-called ‘Stability Decree’ that will allow Napoli to hand the Nigerian international. a higher salary without adding more financial burden to the club.
Osimhen technically qualifies for the clause given that the forward recently had a daughter born in Italy earlier this year, and if the 23-year-old is legible, Napoli can legally offer the striker an improved contract without having any extra cost coming out of a club.
As a result, Osimhen could soon sign a new contract with Napoli, much to the dismay of both Liverpool and Tottenham. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Premier League duo are interested in the African superstar, who could cost around £100m in 2023.

Indeed, Osimhen has been one of the best attackers in Europe this season and a big reason behind Napoli’s incredible form in both the UEFA Champions League and Serie A, with the attacker firing the Partenopei to the top of the Italian first division for the 2022 FIFA World Cup break.
As a result, interest is very high in Osimhen. However, Napoli seem to be keen on pulling out every trick in the book to keep their star man at the club beyond next summer amid interest from the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham.
Osimhen signing new Napoli contract will be a big shock

Osimhen has been imperious for Napoli this season, with the striker’s goals and assists leading the Serie A side to their first piece of major silverware in years. However, it feels unlikely that the forward will sign a new contract given how strongly linked the forward is to a Premier League move.
After all, Liverpool and Tottenham are just two clubs chasing Osimhen, with Arsenal and Newcastle also linked to the Nigerian. And Napoli signing the attacker to a new deal when a massive payday could be on the horizon is questionable decision, even if they can exploit the Italian loophole.
