Southampton’s official Twitter account has issued a hands-off warning to a Liverpool fan, who cheekily enquired whether his side could buy Danny Ings back from them.
Ings has enjoyed an incredible season for the Saints, and notched a brace yesterday to take himself to 18 goals for the campaign.
Ings now has scored more goals this term than any Liverpool player, with his finishing ability really shining through.
Ings is sure to be attracting attention throughout the league.
And when a Liverpool fan asked if they could have Ings back, Southampton’s official account was quick to respond.
If Liverpool were to make a bid to re-sign Ings, it seems likely that they would surely have to pay considerably more than the £20 million they sold him for in 2019 (BBC Sport).
Liverpool have taken a number of Southampton’s better players over the years – with Virgil van Dijk, Sadio Mane, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert all switching between the two sides in recent times.
