Leeds United have been turned down by Arsenal regarding Rob Holding, according to The Daily Star.
It has been reported that Leeds Director of football Victor Orta wants to sign Holding from Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
However, the North London outfit have ‘rebuffed his interest’ in the 24-year-old central defender, leading Leeds to make a move for Josko Gvardiol of Dinamo Zagreb, according to the report.
It has been claimed that Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also interested in the 18-year-old, who can play as a central defender or as a left-back.
Need for another central defender
Leeds recently completed the signing of Robin Koch from Freiburg for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Star to be worth £13 million.
However, it makes sense for the promoted Premier League club to look for another centre-back.
Koch and Liam Cooper are likely to be the main centre-back pairing at Elland Road next season, and head coach Marcelo Bielsa could do with another senior player for that position, as the Whites prepare for their first season back in the Premier League since 2004.
