It has been reported that the Italian giants have made an inquiry for the 24-year-old Arsenal midfielder – described by then Gunners’ head coach Unai Emery as “a midfielder with great quality” on the club’s official website in July 2018.
Should Arsenal sell Lucas Torreira this summer?
Torreira made 24 starts and 10 substitute appearances in the Premier League for the North London outfit during the 2018-19 campaign, while last season, the Uruguay international midfiedler made 17 starts and 12 substitute appearances in the league, according to WhoScored.
The 24-year-old is not a bad player, but the former Sampdoria star has not been able to establish himself as an integral part of the team.
With Daniel Ceballos back on loan from Real Madrid and Mohamed Elneny starting the season strongly, the Uruguayan has a fight on his hands to get into the starting lineup.
If Arsenal do sell Torreira, then they must hold out for a very high fee. After all, if the Gunners are unable to get top dollar for him, then they will only end up with a player who will be a very good option for manager Mikel Arteta.
