Bordeaux have been linked with signing players from Tottenham, and Steven Gerrard’s Rangers.

Alfredo Morelos of Rangers is seen during the Pre-Season Friendly match between Rangers and Wigan Athletic at Ibrox Stadium on July 29, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers are battling to fend off interest in star striker Alfredo Morelos, with SkySports reporting a bid from Bordeaux last week.

Steven Gerrard threw down the gauntlet to Bordeaux and told them to blow the Gers out of the water with an offer late last week.

But Bordeaux appear to now be focusing elsewhere, with Info Mercato reporting they have been offered the chance to sign Tottenham forward Fernando Llorente.

Bordeaux president Stephane Martin has confirmed they are trying to sign a striker – but says it is going to be a target man.

He was quoted by Girondins4Ever saying that Bordeaux want to sign, “a center forward with impressive physical characteristics able to play back to the goal and make deviations.”

Asked about Morelos he said he was just one of many players that have been assessed.

Martin’s comments about a target man better fit 6ft 4″ Llorente than 5ft9″ Morelos.

Rangers are trying to hold onto Morelos, while Tottenham are reported to be trying to cash in Llorente.

Bordeaux prioritising the Spaniard would benefit both clubs, but whether they pursue the Tottenham forward or not, the Rangers forward appears to be slipping down their priority list.
