It looks like Arsenal being in for Axel Disasi might not be simply paper talk after all.
RMC Sport reported this week that the Gunners were still interested in the Reims defender, who is valued at £15 million.
Arsenal have been linked with him for a few months now and it seems there may be a bit of substance to the rumour.
Jean-Pierre Caillot, president of the Stade de Reims, has been speaking to the media this weekend.
And the Frenchman confirmed that Disasi is close to joining a Premier League club – and hinted that it just may be Arsenal.
He said to ABC Sevilla: “I know the interest of Sevilla, of course. But it will not be easy. At this time, the player is closer to the Premier League. Is it Arsenal? It could be. But I am not saying more about it because its confidential data”
There you have it. Either Caillot is playing major games, trying to increase urgency in other clubs making a move, or he is genuinely close to a move to Arsenal.
This transfer represents a lot more realism for the North Londoners, who have been linked to the likes of Dayot Upamecano and Samuel Umtiti, but Disasi, for £15 million, is much more likely to materialise.
