The Tottenham Hotspur man will be a free agent in the summer.

Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente’s contract is set to expire in the summer, and Athletic Bilbao president Aitor Elizegi told reporters how the 34-year-old is an option for his club, as quoted by Spanish media outlet El Desmarque.
The Spaniard joined Spurs from Swansea City in the summer of 2017, for a fee believed to be worth £12 million, and he has since gone on to score just 12 goals for the club.
Considering Llorente’s age, and the fact that he is far from a regular starter in north London, it is highly unlikely that Tottenham will offer the striker a new deal at the end of this season.
And Bilbao president Aitor Elizegi admitted to reporters that he is monitoring the Basque-born hitman’s situation at Spurs, as quoted by Spanish media outlet El Desmarque:

“Llorente said very clearly that Athletic had not addressed him in the winter market, he said personally, but what the club does have is the obligation to have proof of the status of the contracts of all the players capable of playing in the Athletic. The Sports Commission is serious, it is their obligation to know how the contracts are, what age or what circumstances they have to return to Euskadi, there are many variables in the professional life of a player, the positions that there are, etc.”
The 6ft 4in hitman is a still well capable of playing at the very highest level, in spite of his advancing years, and a move back to Athletic Bilbao might just be what he needs to help reinvigorate his flagging career.
And there surely wouldn’t be too many Tottenham fans who will be sad to see him leave.
