Crystal Palace are interested in signing Naouirou Ahamada from VfB Stuttgart – there has now been an update.

What’s the story?

Well, it was Foot Mercato in France who revealed that Crystal Palace had struck an agreement with the Bundesliga side over a deal for the 20-year-old.

Unfortunately, it seems as if the French news outlet may have jumped the gun if a fresher story is anything to go by.

Sky Germany are now claiming that VfB Stuttgart are willing to hold talks with Crystal Palace over a deal to send their No.32 to Selhurst Park, but there’s a slight issue.

Ahamada himself is not interested in leaving the German side during the middle of the season, with a summer exit from the Bundesliga outfit far more likely.

If that is the case, there’s not much Patrick Vieira can do about it – unless he holds talks with the Frenchman himself in an attempt to convince him.

So far this season, Ahamada has made 17 appearances in the Bundesliga for VfB Stuttgart, scoring two goals while also providing two assists.

Crystal Palace could benefit from Ahamada decision

In our view, there may be a positive for the south Londoners despite Ahamada wanting to see out the season in Germany.

At the end of the campaign, the France Under-18 international will only have 12 months remaining on his contract with VfB Stuttgart, which puts the German side in a poor negotiating position regarding their No.32’s future.

Therefore, Crystal Palace could end up signing Ahamada for a cheaper sum than he would cost right now, as his value will decrease due to the fact he’ll have just 12 months left on his contract.

However, the Eagles then risk other sides hijacking their interest, so it is a delicate situation for Crystal Palace.

Be sure to keep an eye on the situation, as anything could happen between now and deadline day.
