Manchester United and Tottenham have now received a boost in their respective pursuits of Diogo Costa as Porto prepare to sign Andrew Ventura.

The Portugal international is a target for both the Red Devils and Spurs as they attempt to find new goalkeeping options.

Now, there has been a major development.

What’s the story?

Well, it was 90min who revealed that Manchester United and Tottenham want to sign Costa.

Encouragement has already been offered to the Premier League duo after it was discovered that Porto are facing financial difficulty and need to make a major sale.

Now, Porto are set to sign a replacement for their No.99 who has a £65m release clause.

Record in Portugal believe Porto are close to signing Gil Vicente glovesman Ventura to step in between the sticks once Costa has departed.

Manchester United are eyeing the Portugal international amid doubts over the future – and the ability – of David de Gea, whereas Tottenham are looking to replace Hugo Lloris, who turns 37 in December.

Diogo Costa is a superb goalkeeper

Whoever manages to sign Costa this summer would be getting themselves a fantastic glovesman, one who excels with the ball at his feet.

The 23-year-old, who played for Portugal at the World Cup in Qatar, has kept 17 clean sheets from 36 appearances so far this season, conceding just 27 goals.

Costa even has an assist to his name which he registered in the 3-0 Champions League win over Bayer Leverkusen earlier this season.

The Porto No.99 also saved a penalty in that game, which made him the first goalkeeper in history to record an assist and save a penalty in the same fixture.

There were – admittedly – a few wobbly moments for Costa at the World Cup, but there is no denying that he is capable of becoming one of the best goalkeepers around.

Be sure to keep an eye on Costa’s situation over the summer, as a move to the Premier League seems likely.
