Paris Saint-Germain face the prospect of losing their prized asset in Kylian Mbappe and have now seemingly positioning themselves to replace him with Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.
According to a report from RMC Sport, PSG are still not giving up on signing Harry Kane, with the Tottenham Hotspur striker reportedly thinking about his options ahead of the new season.
The £200,000-a-week (TalkSPORT) forward had just a year left on his contract at Spurs and has been heavily linked with Bayern Munich, with the German champions submitting two offers for the forward, the latest being worth £70 million, according to The Athletic.
The report from the French outlet states that Kane is reconsidering his future due to PSG ‘positioning themselves’ to sign the forward.
Reportedly Nasser Al-Khelafi, PSG’s president, was in London recently and had a discreet chat with Daniel Levy.
The Tottenham Hotspur chairman would have been well aware of PSG’s financial muscle and their ability to be able to match Spurs’ price tag for Kane which is reportedly €100 million (£86 million) according to the same report from RMC.
‘Exchanges’ take place with Harry Kane’s entourage
The report from France also states that PSG have made contact with Kane and ‘exchanges’ have taken place, which has allegedly seen Kane go back to Bayern to ask for a better contract offer.
This is reportedly frustrating the Bavarian club and they are still unsure if they will offer the amount needed to make the Kane deal happen.
This had reportedly led to officials at PSG being ‘very confident’ that Kane will make the move to Paris this summer.
Levy will also be aware that PSG may have £260 million to spend if Mbappe does depart, which may well lead to Spurs bumping up the price for their prized asset.
The North London club are reportedly targeting Eintracht Frankfurt forward, Randal Kolo Muani, according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
So if Spurs can extract a high value from PSG or Bayern for Kane they may well make their move for the exciting French striker.
