Nigel Winterburn has not pulled any punches when having his say on Arsenal signing Cristiano Ronaldo in a potential transfer.
Currently, the 37-year-old is a free agent, after his contract with Manchester United was mutually terminated.
Ronaldo has had a dire time of things since he returned to United last season.
For starters, the popular opinion remained that the veteran’s impact on the side was a net negative, despite him scoring 18 Premier League goals.
Manchester United dropped to 5th place upon the legendary forward’s arrival, just a campaign after finishing 2nd.
Upon Erik ten Hag’s appointment, he chose not to make Cristiano Ronaldo a regular starter, especially after the latter’s refusal to attend pre-season training.
In his limited minutes, the former Juventus striker did not pull up any trees either.
For Portugal at the World Cup as well, Ronaldo was eventually dropped from the side after his poor displays, as it seems as if his career at the highest level has ended in tears.
Winterburn urges Arsenal not to go for Ronaldo transfer

Nigel Winterburn has suggested why Cristiano Ronaldo to Arsenal would be a disastrous deal for the current league leaders.
“It’s a no from me and there’s only one reason: it would be a short-term gap to fill”, he told Metro.
“A lot of people might say, ‘that’s great, let’s do it.’ I wouldn’t be able to argue with that.
“But I think with the way Arsenal start games, they press high, full of energy, and Ronaldo is an unbelievable player but I don’t think he has the legs to be able to do that anymore.”
“I’m certain he doesn’t. I think Arsenal would have to change their style of play to bring him in and I think that move would be a complete disaster.”
Ultimately, it’s hard to disagree with Nigel Winterburn’s rationale, as it would not make much sense for Arsenal to sign Cristiano Ronaldo as a replacement for the injured Gabriel Jesus.
