Kevin Campbell has backed Arsenal to sign Philippe Coutinho this summer, as he told the Highbury Squad Podcast.
The former striker shared that the Barcelona playmaker would be a ‘difference-maker’ for Arsenal.
Given the financial woes at the Nou Camp, it seems as though the club are open to offers for any of their players as they look to sort out their debts.
Back in June, Spanish outlet, SPORT, claimed that both Arsenal and Everton were waiting on Coutinho’s injury situation before deciding on making a move – well, now he’s back in pre-season.
And Campbell shared why he would welcome the former Liverpool player to the Emirates.
“I would (look at Coutinho),” said Campbell. “I know that he’s a difference-maker. I know that.
“He’s a difference-maker. He can score goals. He can pick a pass. Very good footballer and a very clever footballer.
“What was it, a couple of seasons ago, he was a Champions League winner playing with Bayern Munich. Then he goes back to Barcelona and he doesn’t get a kick.
“So, there is a lot of life left in him yet. But the problem is the wages.”

It has been three years since Coutinho left Anfield for the Nou Camp for a record deal and it just hasn’t worked out for the technically gifted midfielder.
That might be off-putting for some Arsenal supporters, although Coutinho would walk straight into their team.
But the obvious problem would be paying his wages because if he were to become one of Arsenal’s highest earners then he simply wouldn’t be worth it.
However, that doesn’t hide the fact that Mikel Arteta, alongside the growing and thriving Emile Smith Rowe, needs another ball-carrier, quick thinking footballer, who has the quality to make a forward pass.
