Valencia are keen to retain Bryan Gil for a second season on loan this summer, but the La Liga side will need Tottenham Hotspur to continue paying his wages for another transfer.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who report Gil has established himself as a key part of Los Murcielagos’ plans. He joined the Mestalla outfit for the rest of the current term in January after struggling to hold down a role in north London, but is undroppable in Spain.
Spurs agreed a net package worth at least €35m (£29m) to sign Gil from Sevilla last year, with €25m (£21m) cash plus Erik Lamela heading the other way. But the 21-year-old only made nine Premier League outings for 86-minutes in total. He also failed to score or assist.

Antonio Conte was particularly loath to trust the Spain international with a vital presence in his plans. The Italian only awarded Gil 29-minutes before sanctioning the four-cap ace’s temporary exit. He has since played 331-minutes in La Liga, featuring in all five available.
Valencia hope a guaranteed role in Jose Bordalas’ plans helps them convince Tottenham to sanction another loan transfer for Gil. They cannot afford a grand ransom for another spell next season, though. So, hope Spurs pay most if not all of his €2.5m-a-year (£40k-a/w) pay.
Conte and Gil could block Valencia agreeing second Tottenham loan transfer
Valencia will struggle to convince Tottenham to agree to very favourable terms if Conte is intending to welcome Gil back. But even if the Italian is not, Gil will want European football to ensure he has a platform to return to the Spain squad ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.

Los Murcielagos are currently ninth in La Liga, so outside of the European places. The Mestalla outfit are also 12-points from the Champions League positions after 27 games. While Europa League action is 10-points away, with 11 fixtures still to play this season.
Bordalas will hope the praise he lavished on Gil upon his loan transfer from Tottenham helps Valencia close the gap, having so far only offered one assist over his La Liga games.
“Gil is a difference-maker,” Bordalas said, via the Valencia website. “He was very excited and played really well. He has trained very little with the team, but he was very good.”
