Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter in delight after The Telegraph‘s John Percy revealed that Matty Cash in is line for a new contract.
Percy’s tweet claims that the Villans are set to open talks with the 23-year-old over a new deal, just months after he arrived at Villa Park.
Dean Smith’s side only signed Cash back in September, for a fee in the region of £16 million.
Since then, he has been a revelation for the Midlands-based outfit in what has been an excellent campaign so far.
Incredibly, only Manchester City and Chelsea have kept more clean sheets than Villa’s 14 shutouts.

That speaks volumes as to how far Villa have come, after nearly suffering relegation last season.
Aside from a recent injury, Cash has been a near ever-present for Smith, making 23 Premier League starts this term following his move from Nottingham Forest.
Villa’s No.2 has recorded two assists, but it’s his defensive numbers that really catch the eye.

As WhoScored shows, Cash registers 2.7 tackles and 2.3 interceptions per game, as well as three clearances every 90 minutes in England’s top-flight.
He has arguably been one of the signings of the season.
Let’s see how some Villa fans reacted to The Telegraph’s news…
