Newcastle United’s reported quest to sign Lucas Hernandez from Bayern Munich has received a boost.
According to a recent report in Bild, Newcastle are interested in signing Hernandez from German giants Bayern in the summer transfer window.
The Magpies have reportedly been tipped to make a move for the France international defender once the takeover by Saudi Arabia’s PIF goes through.
TZ has now reported that Bayern have already offered the 24-year-old to several top European clubs, and have used him in their negotiations to sign Leroy Sane from Manchester City as well.
Encouraging for Newcastle United
That Bayern are reportedly open to selling Hernandez in the summer transfer window will be encouraging for Newcastle.
The defender has not had a great time at Bayern this season following his move from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2019 for a transfer fee reported by ESPN to be worth €80 million (£71.97 million).
The Frenchman has had injury issues, but there is no doubt that he is a very good defender who will get better in the coming years, as he is just 24.
