Fabrizio Romano has said on the Here We Go Podcast that Arsenal’s William Saliba has already attracted attention from AC Milan.

Saliba has endured a seriously difficult start to life at Arsenal since joining, with Mikel Arteta consistently overlooking him.

The teenaged defender, who was hailed as a ‘great player’ by former teammate Matthieu Debuchy (Ligue 1 Podcast), has only played for Arsenal’s development side so far, and was not even included in their Europa League squad.

There are now concerns forming about Saliba at the Emirates Stadium.

However, Romano insists that Arsenal do view him as a real prospect for the future, and he says that the club have actually already batted away offers for the centre-back.

“Arsenal are considering to send Saliba on loan,” Romano said.

“Arsenal not happy with his situation at the club, just for the player.

“AC Milan tried to sign him on permanent deal but Arsenal immediately said no. They want him in the future.”

Whether Saliba will get more of a chance when he has settled remains to be seen.

Arteta has suggested that he hasn’t made up his mind over whether to send Saliba out on loan or keep him in North London from January.

If he is kept at the club, Arsenal will surely need to play him, though.

Saliba’s development cannot be aided by his continued omissions from Arsenal’s first-team squads, especially after he proved his ability to play senior football in France with St. Etienne.
