Real Betis view Nottingham Forest’s lowball £4 million bid for Alex Moreno as an indication of a ‘lack of respect’ from the Premier League outfit, as reported by Estadio Deportivo.
It reports are to be believed, Fulham have already seen an £8 million offer for Moreno rejected this summer. So Nottingham Forest were never going to find that a bid around half that amount was to Real Betis’ liking.
But some context is required here.
As Estadio Deportivo explain, FIFA rules state that, when trying to sign players with more than six months left on their contract, clubs must make a ‘formal proposal’ before officially opening talks.
Perhaps that is why Nottingham Forest submitted that lowball bid. It was, if anything, an attempt to get their foot in the door.
Nottingham Forest want Alex Moreno from Real Betis
Either way, Betis are far from pleased with how the negotiations are going. After AS described the offer as ‘derisory’, Estadio go one step further. Los Verdiblancos, they say, see Forest’s £4 million offer as an indication of a ‘lack of respect’ from a club who have already spent over £70 million on 12 new signings this summer.

This is not the first time Nottingham Forest have found themselves in this position either.
Per Sky Germany, Mainz weren’t impressed when the two-time European champions submitted a ‘ridiculous’ offer for Moussa Niakhate in June. The Bundesliga outfit even threatened to call off the deal.
That was until Forest opted to meet Niakhate’s £13 million asking price; Thus thawing the rather frosty feeling between the two clubs. Whether they will take the same approach with Moreno – valued closer to £20 million – only time will tell.
Interestingly, the report adds that Steve Cooper sees the former Espanyol flyer more as a winger than a full-back. That should explain why Nottingham Forest are keen. They have already brought in Omar Richards, Harry Toffolo and even the two-footed Nico Williams to fill the left-back spot after all.
