AC Milan are reportedly monitoring RC Lens captain and Leeds target Seko Fofana if they fail to land Renato Sanches, who is wanted by Arsenal this summer.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the 26-year-old Ivory Coast international has caught the attention of the Serie A side ahead of the transfer window, with Fofana once again having a sensational season for Lens as the French minnows continue to impress in Ligue 1.
As reported by the Daily Mail, it’s not just Milan who have been impressed by Fofana this season, with Leeds and Newcastle United also interested in the former Udinese midfielder, who could be sold this summer for just £14m.
Hailed as ‘magnificent’ as per Le 10 Sport, it’s no wonder why Milan have now entered the race to sign Fofana. However, the Rossoneri will only move for the Ivorian if they miss out on Sanches, who is reportedly wanted by Arsenal.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Portuguese international is top of Mikel Arteta and Edu Gasper’s transfer list for midfielders, with LOSC Lille open to selling Sanches for just €30m (£25m).
Indeed, Sanches will be a fantastic signing for either Milan or Arsenal, though whoever wins the midfielder could set off a domino effect over who lands Fofana, with Leeds hopeful that the Serie A side are the ones to land the Lens superstar this summer.
Milan are in a win-win situation if they land Sanches or Fofana

With Milan holding all the cards in the races for Sanches and Fofana, Stefan Pioli’s side are the real winners of this situation as they will likely end the transfer window with a quality new central midfielder from Ligue 1.
However, with Arsenal desperate for a new central midfielder and Leeds eager to make a splash in the transfer market, Milan will have to act quickly if they are to sign Sanches or Fofana, who will be some of the most in-demand names in France this summer.
