Inter Milan are reportedly looking at signing Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly as a replacement for Milan Skriniar, who has been named as a target for Liverpool.
At least, that’s what Graeme Bailey has suggested on the Talking Transfers Podcast.
The Senegal international was considered one of the best centre-backs in Italy before he moved to Chelsea, and after a poor start to life at Stamford Bridge, he may be headed to Serie A.
The move comes amid reports of Inter’s current centre-back Skriniar being linked with a move to Liverpool, as the player’s agents have reportedly held talks with the club.
Koulibaly himself is a proven defender at that level with a wealth of experience in Italy from his time at Napoli. His physicality, aerial ability, and knowledge of Serie A make him a valuable target for Inter who will be desperate to replace Skriniar if he does go.

Inter want Koulibaly
Bailey mentioned Koulibaly as an option.
“It’s interesting that you mention Koulibaly, keep an eye on him as a potential long term replacement for Skriniar. Koulibaly is not having a good time in England with Chelsea and he is one Inter are considering,” Bailey said.
Door is open
The fact that Inter are already considering replacements for Skriniar suggests that the door is very much open for Liverpool to go out and get this player.
While a new centre-back isn’t a vital signing for Liverpool, Skriniar’s arrival would provide competition for places in defence, which would help to keep the current players, such as Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate, on their toes as they have been off the boil as of late.
Liverpool’s defence has been a real a concern this season, and Skriniar’s arrival would certainly help to strengthen the backline as he’s a player who has a wealth of experience playing at the highest level of football, including in the Champions League on countless occasions for Inter.
The door is open for Liverpool, or any other interested club, to go and get this deal done.
