FC Cincinnati say they are in ‘negotiations and discussions’ to re-sign the Celtic left-back Andrew Gutman.
Gutman has spent the past 15 months on loan to the Major League Soccer side from Celtic.
The 24-year-old made a total of 29 appearances for his temporary employers and is understood to have impressed despite them finishing bottom of the Eastern Conference two seasons running.
Gutman still has 18 months left on the contract he signed at Celtic in January 2019.
But it remains to be seen if he’ll get his chance under the Bhoys manager Neil Lennon, whose predecessor Brendan Rodgers signed the American.
In that time Lennon has brought three left-backs to Celtic, although Diego Laxalt is only on loan in Glasgow.
Greg Taylor is Celtic’s other senior option, with Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo farmed out to Istanbul Basaksehir for the duration of Laxalt’s spell.
And a statement on the FC Cincinnati website, after their final-day defeat to an Inter Miami side containing the ex-Celtic winger Lewis Morgan, read: “The club is in current negotiations and discussions with Andrew Gutman, Joseph-Claude Gyau, Nick Hagglund, Caleb Stanko and Przemysław Tytoń about their futures.”
