Bournemouth have confirmed that Ryan Fraser will leave the Cherries at the end of this month with a statement on their official website claiming that the Arsenal and Everton target has rejected a new short-term contract.

The ongoing global health crisis has forced many a club to handle some rather unique challenges, with the issue of out-of-contract players the subject of much confusion.

Charlton Athletic and Middlesbrough will be without their star men when the 2019/20 season resumes, with both Lyle Taylor and Daniel Ayala refusing to extend their current deals beyond June 30 for fear of suffering a serious injury which would scupper their hopes of a big summer move.

And it seems that Fraser, who has been linked with London giants Arsenal and Tottenham via the Mirror and the Mail, has taken a similar stance.

“Ryan Fraser has declined to sign a short-term contract extension,” Bournemouth have confirmed on the day that Andrew Surman, Artur Boruc, Charlie Daniels and Simon Francis commit their futures to the club for another few weeks.

It’s fair to say Cherries boss Eddie Howe could have done without this situation.

Bournemouth are currently stuck in the relegation zone and, while Fraser has not quite been at his brilliant best this season, the Scotland international would surely have played a huge role in their battle against the drop.

Crystal Palace have also been linked with the diminutive speed-machine, by the Express.

Fraser could potentially replace Wilfried Zaha on the left-hand side, if The Eagles’ star man finally takes flight.
