Reported Aston Villa and Wolves target Milot Rashica has told Werder Bremen that he wants to leave this summer, supervisory board chairman Marco Bode has told Weser Kurier.
While Werder coach Florian Kohfeldt was a little more subtle when discussing the future of his Kosovan talisman last week, the fact that Rashica was nowhere to be seen during a friendly clash with Eintracht Braunschweig spoke volumes.
It was a ‘mutual decision’ to leave him out of the team, Kohfeldt claimed.
And, after playing a starring role as Werder pulled off a Houdini-esque escape from relegation last season, you would be a little ‘naïve’ to presume Rashica will still be wearing that green shirt when 2020/21 gets underway.
At least, according to Bode.
“Milot has clearly registered his desire to change (clubs) with us,” says a Werder legend who now works behind the scenes at the 2004 Bundesliga champions.
“We are not naïve. We take into account that Milot won’t play for us next year.”
Kicker claimed in June that Wolverhampton Wanderers have made an offer for the £18 million-rated speed machine.
Aston Villa have also been fluttering their eyelashes in his direction since January, perhaps seeing Rashica as the man capable of freshening up an underperforming forward line.
The former Vitesse Arnhem flyer has been likened to Franck Ribery and Alexis Sanchez during his time in Germany, largely due to his diminutive frame, explosive pace and whipcrack shot.
Rashica, who looks tailor-made for one of those inverted winger roles in Wolves’ 3-4-3 formation, produced 11 goals and eight assists in a struggling side last season.
