Reported Crystal Palace and Leicester City legend Luis Henrique will not be leaving Brazilian football for as little as £10 million, Botafogo legend Carlos Montenegro has told L’Equipe

A teen sensation who has exploded on to the scene amid comparisons with Brazilian icon Garrincha, Henrique’s explosive pace and befuddling trickery mean he is now being mentioned in the same breathe as some of the finest forwards of the modern era too.

“They talk a lot about Mbappe. (Thierry) Henry too,” Henrique, who had a trial period at Bayern Munich last year and is now a target for Juventus, told Goal back in August.

“They have already said my sprinting style looks like that of Ronaldo Nazario.”

As long as Henrique continues honing his fearsome talent, the Botafogo bullet train will soon be making a name for himself in his own right.

A move to the Premier League would certainly help one of the world’s most exciting young wingers to step out of the shadows of Ronaldo, Garrincha and co, with Gazeta Esportiva claiming that a Crystal Palace side prioritising young, hungry and improving players are very much interested.

Leicester, meanwhile, sent scouts to watch Henrique in action earlier this year (Lance).

But, if Palace or the Foxes were hoping to take advantage of a financial crisis in Brazilian football and get Henrique on the cheap, they will be disappointed.

“For now, negotiations are still ongoing,” says Montenegro, a former president and current committee member at Botafogo. “But, for £10 million, he does not leave.”

As it stands, Marseille are leading the race for Henrique’s signature, although talks with the Ligue 1 giants appear to have hit a standstill.
