Brighton and Hove Albion target Boulaye Dia will be allowed to leave Reims in January, according to the Ligue 1 club’s managing director Mathieu Lacourt (Telefoot).

Graham Potter knows exactly how Bill Murray felt in Groundhog Day.

Since the start of this season, the Seagulls have outplayed both Manchester United and Chelsea before dominating possession at Goodison Park, only to end up on the losing side in all three games.

And, once again, questions are being asked about the strikers at Potter’s disposal.

Neal Maupay might have scored four in four but his penchant for squandering big chances at crucial moments has had many a Brighton fan tearing their hair out again, while Aaron Connelly is yet to add a ruthless streak his game so clearly needs.

Fortunately, Reims will not stop in Dia’s way if the South Coast club come calling once again in the new year.

“If there is a good project that presents itself in January, Boulaye Dia will be able to leave,” Lacourt says, translated by Maxifoot.

Le10 Sport reported in June that Brighton were interested in the £13 million-rated forward, who scored eight goals last season and already had three to his name in 2020/21.
