Hamilton vice-chairman Les Gray has told the Daily Record that playmaker Greg Docherty will only leave the Scottish Premiership side on one condition – if an acceptable offer is received for the Rangers-linked ace.

Rangers are interested in the 21-year-old who has starred for Martin Canning’s side this season, scoring three goals and adding six assists from midfield for the Gers league rivals.

Docherty signed a new three-year deal in the summer, keeping him at Hamilton until the summer of 2020. But Rangers are said to be keen on signing the midfielder, along with Preston and Cardiff City.

Gray said that Docherty would not be leaving Hamilton this month, along with Ali Crawford and Michael Devlin unless a suitable offer is received for either player.

“We won’t comment on things like that until there is something to say. There is always speculation surrounding these players,” Gray said.

“Ali Crawford and Michael Devlin are out of contract at the end of the season, and Greg Docherty is doing very well, so there will be interest. He recently signed a new extension for two and a half years, so it’s just speculation.

“Nobody is going anywhere unless we receive an offer that is acceptable, and that hasn’t happened.”

The Gers could look to land the three-time Scotland Under-21 international with Graham Dorrans still sidelined with an ankle injury, while Carlos Pena has returned to Mexico on loan with Pedro Caixinha’s Cruz Azul.

Murty has already confirmed five signings this month, landing Declan John on a permanent basis while Jamie Murphy, Sean Goss, Russell Martin and Jason Cummings on loan.

Rangers return to competitive action on Sunday in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup against Highland League minnows Fraserburgh, before facing Aberdeen on Wednesday the 24th.
