Both West Ham United and Southampton have been credited with interest in the German.
The Hammers’ struggles in the transfer window look set to continue, with German media outlet Bild reporting that Hamburg have no intention of selling key Slaven Bilic target Nicolai Muller, following quotes from the Bundesliga club’s sporting director.
The 29-year-old winger performed admirably for his club last term, chipping in with five goals and six assists in 27 outings, and his tireless work-ethic drew the attention of many an admiring glare from across the breadth of the continent.

They both seem to be out of luck, however, after Hamburg’s sporting Director Jens Todt told Bild that Muller will be going nowhere this summer:
“We won’t sell Nicolai this summer. We have given his agent a clear signal.”
The Saints will be under less pressure than the Hammers are to complete a deal for a striker this summer, with the West Ham faithful growing impatient at their club’s poor handling of transfer over recent seasons.
And the next month’s business at the London Stadium could prove to have a huge bearing on Bilic’s job security with the east Londoners, because if he fails this time around, he will surely not be given much more grace by the supporters.
