Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly want Mexico international Edson Alvarez.
Club America’s sporting director has confirmed interest in Edson Alvarez, speaking to Nacion Deportes, with Wolverhampton Wanderers emerging as a potential destination for the versatile defender.
Weeks after signing Raul Jimenez for a club record £30 million, Wolves are apparently keen to bring his Mexican international team-mate to Molineux as well during what is expected to be a busy transfer window in the Black Country.
Mediotempo claimed earlier in June that Wolves had made contact with Club America to ask about the future of their 21-year-old, who has a very affordable release clause standing at just shy of £8 million.
And Santiago Bobas, the director of the Liga MX outfit, has confirmed that clubs have taken an interest in a player who is equally comfortable at centre-half or in defensive midfield.
“There’s been approaches but there has not been an offer,” Bobas said. “Obviously I have had meetings with his representative and we are in talks, but a formal offer in which we have an established amount, not yet (arrived).”
Wolves will be fully aware that they need to add depth to a squad that will be hoping to balance domestic and continental exploits next season and Alvarez’s ability to play in a variety of roles could make him an inspired addition.
