Leeds United have struggled at the start of their Championship campaign, but they are starting to show signs of improvement.

Leeds assistant manager Pep Clotet spoke to the media in the wake of his side’s 1-0 EFL Cup win over Blackburn Rovers last night, and offered high praise for Garry Monk, as quoted by BT Sport.

The West Yorkshire outfit suffered a torrid beginning to their Championship season under Garry Monk, with just one win coming for their opening six games.

They are in the midst of a mini resurgence, however, and have recorded three straight wins in all competitions.

Speaking after their victory over Blackburn, Clotet described how well Monk has handled the pressures at Elland Road, during what has been a challenging spell, as quoted by BT Sport:

“He’s been superb. I’ve worked a lot with Garry and I’m always very impressed with the way he handles difficult moments. I think he’s managed these last few weeks perfectly and he got us through that period very well with a lot of passion for the club. He’s a very good, young English manager with a bright future – and now a bright future for Leeds.”

Leeds have jumped up to 15th in the Championship table on the back of their revival, and now sit just four points outside the top-six.

Monk’s men now face a crucial spell in the league, with three home games in their next five fixtures – all against teams they can realistically expect to beat.

After the criticism that the former Swansea City boss received during the early stages of the season, his ability to get his players firing again, and turnaround what was a bleak looking situation must be applauded.

Leeds take on Ipswich Town on Saturday at Elland Road in a 3pm kick-off.
