Leeds United CEO Angus Kinnear has told Sky Sports that his side are ‘closing in’ on an alternative target for Ben White.
White is Leeds’ main target at the back, but he is proving very difficult to obtain.
Brighton & Hove Albion are determined to keep the central defender, with Leeds having multiple offered rejected for him.
Kinnear now has hinted that Leeds are pushing ahead with alternative plans, in case they can not get White.
And the Leeds chief has suggested that a deal is very close to being completed now.
“We have to be very respectful of the fact that he is a Brighton player, he is training with them currently and there have been discussions,” Kinnear said.
“I think it is going to be challenging to make him a Leeds United player but if it is not Ben White, then we have other options which are in advanced stages and we will be closing in on one of them soon.”

Leeds missing out on White will be a blow, as he played such a key role in helping the Yorkshire side earn promotion last season.
However, Marcelo Bielsa’s men cannot waste too much more time trying to negotiate for White, as they need to start planning for the new season ahead.
Leeds need a centre-back partner for Liam Cooper, and the longer he has to train with the team, the more prepared he should feel on opening day, with the Whites starting with a game against Liverpool.
