David Moyes has told West Ham United’s official website that Manuel Lanzini is edging closer to being fit enough to start games for his side.
Lanzini is yet to make a start for West Ham this season, with most his appearances coming from the bench.
The Argentine has recently been nursing a slight injury problem, which has kept him out of starting contention.
But Moyes feels that the attacking midfielder is getting fitter now.
And the West Ham boss is eager to get the playmaker back to full health.
“Manuel Lanzini is much closer to being ready to start games,” he said.
“I think he would have been more in contention had he not picked up a really slight groin strain in training after the Crystal Palace game.
“He just opened his groin up, which kept him out of the Chelsea game, so it wasn’t something which kept him out for a long time, just three or four days.
“I would like to get Manu back because he has got creativity and he gives us something different, but we need Manu to be fully at it as well, realising that the team is working hard with and without the ball. We want him part of that, because he’s very creative.”

West Ham could actually have benefitted from having a player with Lanzini’s creative talents available.
The Hammers have not looked at their flowing best in recent games, with Mark Noble playing as a number 10.
West Ham have now failed to win any of their last three matches, with their next game coming against Southampton later today.
