Rangers look set to confirm another signing from Bournemouth.

On Thursday morning the Scottish Premiership leaders announced the acquisition of Jack Simpson on a pre-contract agreement, and the defender looks set to be joined at Ibrox by one of his Cherries team-mates.

As reported by the Bournemouth Daily Echo, Nnamdi Ofoborh looks likely to be heading for Glasgow.

Asked if Ofoborh would make the same move as Simpson, they quote Bournemouth boss Jason Tindall as saying: “I think so. The conversations I’ve had with Nnamdi, I think they are down the line on that one.

“I know it’s a club I think he would want to go and play for. It’s not as far down the line as what Jack is, but I think he is close to agreeing things to also go to Rangers.

“Credit to the football club and everyone that’s worked with Nnamdi, from where he was when he joined us to where he currently is now and to where he might end up.

“I think it’s great credit to everyone at this football club that’s helped him to achieve that.”

Midfielder Ofoborh has made five appearances for Tindall’s side, and the 21-year-old has been capped on three occasions by Nigeria’s under-20 side.

Simpson, meanwhile, will begin life as a Rangers player on July 1.

Welcoming the news of Simpson’s impending arrival, Rangers Sporting Director Ross Wilson told the club’s official website: “Jack is a player that Steven (Gerrard) and I have discussed a number of times in recent months.

“We are always looking at how we can improve and Jack fits the profile that we are looking to add as we develop and move the squad forward again.

“His contractual situation at Bournemouth provided a natural and attractive moment for us to pursue Jack’s signature.

“It has been well publicised that he has been a much-coveted player south of the border but from our first discussion with Jack, we could see how the opportunity to join Rangers was one that was very appealing to him.

“The situation with pre contract negotiations is never an easy one and I extend my thanks to Richard Hughes, my counterpart at Bournemouth, for how he has handled our interest in Jack.”
