Tottenham Hotspur have not made a good start to the season.

Clive Allen has suggested to Football.London that Tottenham Hotspur will finish third in the Premier League table this season.

The former Tottenham star believes that Mauricio Pochettino’s side are best placed to finish behind Liverpool and Manchester City among their competitors in the league table.

Allen has also predicted England international striker Harry Kane to break his record of scoring 49 goals in 54 appearances for Spurs during the 1986-87 season, according to The Telegraph.

Allen told Football.London: “The Champions League holders, the stadium, everything that’s in place. They’ve made real progress though.

“They’re best placed to finish third to Manchester City and Liverpool this season although they’ve had an indifferent start.

“I think there has been a little hangover from the Champions League final defeat and how that has affected the whole club really.”

Allen told The Telegraph about Kane: “For sure Harry Kane could do it. The year I broke the record that Jimmy Greaves held, Jimmy said to me, ‘If you do it, you’ll deserve it’.

“I’ll say that about Harry: he’ll deserve it. If he does it, in all honesty, I’ll hate it; it’s a record I’m proud of. But I’ll be the first to shake his hand.”

Top-four finish

Tottenham have established themselves as regulars in the top four of the Premier League, and despite their disappointing start to the campaign, the North London club’s fans should be optimistic and confident.

Spurs are unlikely to challenge for the Premier League title this season, but the North London outfit can certainly win a Champions League place again.

As for Kane, the 26-year-old striker remains a major threat up front, and has scored five goals in eight Premier League matches and two goals in two Champions League games, according to WhoScored.
