The former Tottenham Hotspur attacker has been in great form for Marseille this season.

When Tottenham Hotspur agreed the permanent sale of Clinton N’Jie to Marseille earlier this summer, few Spurs fans were left disappointed by the news.

After all, Tottenham had done fine in his absence and the Cameroon international had hardly set pulses racing on his few opportunities for Mauricio Pochettino’s team prior to his return to Ligue 1.

However, a quick look at his record this season suggests a few more of those Tottenham supporters could be wondering what might have been if their club had shown a little more patience in the 24-year-old.

After all, N’Jie has scored three goals in just 143 minutes of football thus far, with a 100 per cent shooting accuracy and a 100 per cent take-on return.

That is quite something for a player who was always going to take time to settle at White Hart Lane.

Unfortunately for N’Jie, injuries and competition for places took their toll at Tottenham and he was quickly shipped out to Marseille, first on loan and now for good.

It is early days but if the attacker can maintain his current form – and Tottenham continue to struggle at Wembley – the feeling that Pochettino made his judgement too soon will only increase.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, and French football is markedly different from the Premier League. That said, N’Jie looks to be making up for lost time this season, finding his form quickly and effectively, just when Tottenham could do with that kind of additional spark on Harry Kane’s rare off days.
