Spurs played Clinton N’Jie just 14 times in a single season in North London – but the former Lyon attacker is back to his best in Ligue 1.

Centre-back Davinson Sanchez was the only member of Tottenham Hotspur’s starting XI who did not muster a shot on goal as the so-called Wembley hoodoo continued with a goalless draw against Swansea City on Saturday.
Despite ripping into Borussia Dortmund with a thrilling display of counter attacking football in the Champions League on Tuesday, Spurs found Swansea’s packed defence impossible to break down despite managing 26 shots on goal and hogging 75 per cent of the possession.
Therefore, the fact that a forward who failed to score a single goal during his season in North London continued his fine start to the current campaign with another two at the weekend will not ease Spurs’ frustrations.

Clinton N’Jie made just 14 appearances for Spurs in the 2015/16 season, only eight of which came in the Premier League. An erratic and frustrating player, the former Lyon winger’s rapid pace was undermined by questionable decision making and a galling absence of end product.
Form of his life
However, it’s fair to say no one could question his efficiency these days. N’Jie returned to France on a permanent basis with Marseille this summer after spending last season on loan at the Stade Velodrome.
And, after scoring just four goals in the entire campaign, N’Jie has already gone one better this. The Cameroonian international netted both goals as Marseille ended a two-game losing run with a 2-0 win at Amiens on Sunday, taking his tally to five in just three starts.

His first was an opportunist tap in and the second, coming just two minutes later, was rolled coolly into the net after he rounded the hosts’ goalkeeper.
Suddenly, N’Jie is looking like the player Tottenham signed for £8.3 million (The Standard). Unfortunately, Spurs cannot benefit from his new found scoring streak.
