Clinton Morrison wants Daniel Sturridge to join one of his former clubs, Crystal Palace, after his release by Liverpool on Tuesday.

Sturridge leaves Anfield after six-and-a-half-years, 160 appearances, 68 goals and 26 assists.

And before his injuries, he was the best English striker around – even better than Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane – in Morrison’s opinion.

Speaking to Talksport earlier, however, the Crystal Palace favourite advised against a move to his own beloved Tottenham.

“What he’s got to realise is that at Tottenham Kane will always play,” he said.

“For me, I think he’d be a great addition for most Premier League teams outside top three or four.

“I don’t think he’s money-orientated. He never looks happy on the bench.

“He’ll want to go to a club where he’s playing week-in week-out, someone like Crystal Palace.

“I’d love my old club Palace to get him because I think, in front of goal, he is one of the most natural.”

Crystal Palace have seen Michy Batshuayi return to Chelsea at the end of a half-season loan spell, and are being tipped to sell Sturridge’s former Liverpool colleague, Christian Benteke, creating a vacancy in the England international’s position.

But Morrison also believes that a move to Leicester City, to play for the man who brought him to Anfield, Brendan Rodgers, “could be a good shout” for Sturridge.

One place the 29-year-old is unlikely to go, however, is Rangers, according to the Irishman.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard looks on during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox Stadium on May 12, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

That is despite the presence of another ex-Red, Steven Gerrard, at Ibrox.

“I think Sturridge will want to stay in the Premier League,” Morrison said. “That’s not being disrespectful to the Scottish Premiership, I think he’s still a Premier League player.

Tottenham, Palace, Leicester, Rangers? Where will the former Liverpool striker move to this summer?
