Clint Hill, who spent a season at Ibrox, has wished Glasgow Rangers luck ahead of their Scottish League Cup semi-final clash with Motherwell.
Clint Hill has taken to Twitter to wish former club Rangers luck ahead of their Scottish League Cup semi-final with Motherwell on Sunday.
Hill spent last season at Ibrox, and appeared to become an extremely popular member of the Gers squad, proving incredibly consistent despite his advancing years and, of course, scoring the late equaliser at Celtic Park to help the Light Blues to their only positive Old Firm result from last season.
Hill left the club after just one year in the summer, but it is perhaps a sign of his popularity that Rangers reached out to him on his 38th birthday to wish him many happy returns. And the defender – who now plays for Carlisle – responded by sending a good luck message to Pedro Caixinha’s men ahead of the weekend’s Hampden Park showdown.
Having started last season’s League Cup semi-final and been in the matchday squad for the Scottish Cup semi-final, Hill will know all too well what it will mean to the fans to see the side book their place in the final after they came up short on both occasions last year.
And while Caixinha be reminding his players to not look past Well for one second, the prospect of potentially facing Celtic in the final – should Brendan Rodgers’ men beat Hibernian the previous day – may potentially motivate the players to raise their game just that little bit more as they would undoubtedly like to have another chance at ending their unbeaten domestic run and doing in a cup final.
Certainly, if the defence manage to show the passion and doggedness that Hill showed during his year with the club, the Gers will stand a fantastic chance of booking their ticket to return to the stadium towards the end of November.
