Glasgow Rangers are currently without a permanent manager, and Graeme Murty has not enjoyed the best caretaker spell.

Rangers defender Clint Hill has told the club’s official website that Graeme Murty has been outstanding since taking over as the side’s interim boss, but insisted that the hierarchy need to look to make a permanent opponent as soon as possible.
Murty has taken charge of the Gers’ last three games following the departure of Mark Warburton, but has not enjoyed the best tenure having lost his two Scottish Premiership fixtures while his only win came against Championship side Morton in the Scottish Cup.
Nevertheless, the caretaker boss has received plenty of praise from Hill who has understood the difficult situation Murty is in at Ibrox currently, but the defender also sent a clear message to the board.
“You need a figurehead, Graeme has come in in a difficult position and been outstanding for us and he has tried to keep us going,” he told the club’s official website.

“Training has been good and sharp but unfortunately we haven’t taken that into performances. The sooner the better that someone comes in, the better for the club.”
Rangers’ hope of finishing second in the top flight appear to be becoming bleaker with every performance. They are now nine points adrift of Aberdeen so will probably need a tremendous run to end the campaign to finish as Celtic’s closest rivals.

Unfortunately, that run does not appear to be on the horizon under Murty which would suggest that the next boss’ priority may well be constructing a team for next season.
And it could be argued that the longer he has to assess the squad this season, the better chance of him making some good decisions regarding the side over the summer, hence why the board would surely be wise to listen to Hill and step up their search.
