Free agent Hill could link up both his former teammates at Ibrox, after signing a one-year deal with Mark Warburton’s side.
Hill is the latest new arrival at Ibrox
Clint Hill has described playing alongside Joey Barton again as one of the plus points of his move to Rangers, the Daily Record reports.
The pair, who hail from the same Merseyside town of Huyton, were colleagues at Queens Park Rangers for four years.
Barton, 33, signed a two-year deal at Ibrox last month, with Hill, 37, penning a 12-month contract after arriving in Glasgow on Friday.
“I spent a good couple of years with Joey. I know what he’s about and what he can bring to a team,” Hill said, as quoted by the Daily Record.
Barton and Hill may not be the only reunion at Ibrox this summer
However, the Loftus Road reunions may not end there, with former R’s playmaker Niko Kranjcar also linked with a move to Rangers.
And though the speculation has started to go cold of late, Hill’s comments suggest the move is very much on.
He added: “To come back and work with him (Barton) is one of the plus points, and potentially Niko Kranjcar too.
Kranjcar could follow Hill to Ibrox
“Joey will be fine. He has matured now and he will be a great leader and player for the club. He will be a great leader.
“Niko is technically a superb footballer and he can put the ball in the right areas and hurt teams.”
Hill becomes only the third over-30 player on Rangers’ books, alongside Barton and Kenny Miller, 36.
However, the signing of Kranjcar, who turns 32 in August, would add even more valuable experience to the youthful squad put together by Mark Warburton these past 12 months.
The 81-cap Croatia international is a free agent after his contract with North American Soccer League side New York Cosmos expired this summer.
Kranjcar played in the Premier League for Portsmouth, Tottenham Hotspur and QPR
