Clint Hill looks set to leave Glasgow Rangers this summer after just one season at Ibrox.

Clint Hill has confirmed to Rangers’ official website that he is not expecting to get a new deal at Ibrox this summer, but insisted that his time with the club has been unbelievable.

Hill has enjoyed a bright first year with the Gers, arguably proving to be the best of Mark Warburton’s additions last summer.

The centre-back has been one of the most reliable and consistent performers within the squad, so many would have been forgiven for hoping that the 38-year-old would be handed a new contract this summer despite his advancing years.

However, the Daily Record recently reported that Hill was set to be one of the players that Pedro Caixinha planned to let go of at the end of the season as he continues to build his squad at Ibrox. And the defender has now confirmed that he is almost certainly going to be searching for a new club this summer, before offering an opinion on how he would reflect upon his spell.

“I don’t think I’m getting a contract unfortunately, so whatever happens after this, I don’t know. We’ve had a few phone calls which have been interesting but nothing concrete,” he told the club’s official website.

“But it’s been fabulous, it’s been an unbelievable honour for me to play for the club and playing in front of the fans, it’s been brilliant.”

While it may seem a blow for Hill to not be given another year, it may be fair to assume that the veteran’s departure could lead to good news on the transfer front.

Hill’s form over the entire campaign has been better than what the fans have generally been treated to from the likes of Rob Kiernan and Danny Wilson, so the Portuguese allowing him to leave perhaps hints that some decent options may soon be coming in.
