The former Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham man has been in top form for Seattle Sounders recently.
In August of last year Tottenham Hotspur sold Clint Dempsey back to MLS in a deal worth $9 million and the USMNT star struggled to settle back into the swing of things in his homeland with new club Seattle Sounders.
The 31-year-old has recently looked back to his best – seemingly revitalised from a loan spell back at Fulham, which itself was uninspiring.
He bagged a goal against Toronto FC. But he suffered another setback after that game when he was given a two game suspension for slapping Mark Bloom in the.
Last weekend he returned to action – and in some style.
He scored a terrific hat-trick in a 4-4 draw with Portland Timbers – including a late leveller.
And last night he was at it again.
He was the hero for Seattle in a 3-2 win against FC Dallas – bagging two and playing a major part in the other goal.
He opened the scoring with his most sensational effort yet for Seattle. He lined up a 35-yard free-kick in the style of Cristiano Ronaldo and smashed a ball into the net via the underside of the crossbar.
It was a stunning effort – but he was not done there.
His cross-shot was turned away by an opponent to level things up in the second half before he himself snatched a late winner.
Dempsey certainly looks to be back to his best!
