Clint Dempsey has lauded Tottenham Hotspur summer transfer target, Weston McKennie, as a ‘big player’ for Juventus and the USA men’s national team.
The former Tottenham midfielder added that McKennie is someone who plays with ‘no fear’, as he told CBS Sports (06/09/22 at 7:40 pm)
The Juventus midfielder was a target of Tottenham’s this summer, with Fabio Paratici seemingly a big fan of the USA international – Could that resume itself when the transfer window re-opens in the winter?

But a move didn’t materialise, as McKennie is still earning those minutes for Serie A giants, Juventus.
Whilst Antonio Conte guided his team to a 2-0 win over Marseille during their Champions League opener on Wednesday night, it was a defeat for the Old Lady.
Juve suffered a narrow 2-1 loss at big-spending PSG, with McKennie coming off the bench.
Nonetheless, this is what Dempsey had to say about McKennie and what are the best qualities of his fellow countryman.
On McKennie not being a vocal leader: “I think he can be,” said Dempsey.
“But I think because of situations that have happened in the past, with breaking protocol and other issues, it kind of hurts you. Try telling someone ‘hey, you need to do this and that’.
“But he’s a big player for this team. As he grows, the team grows. He is box-to-box. He can create opportunities. I think he is a big character in the team and one of the leaders.
“The thing I love about Weston is that he goes in there. He doesn’t care. He’s not fearful of the big moments. He gets stuck in. And raises the energy. He plays with no fear.”

IS MCKENNIE PREMIER LEAGUE BOUND?
The 24-year-old is certainly built for the Premier League and he would be a top addition to any team, if he were to ply his trade in England.
Spurs don’t exactly need midfielders because they have Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma as their main options.
Whilst Oliver Skipp is the back-up, although, if McKennie were to move to north London, then he could argue he could break into the club’s midfield.
