The Hornets midfielder reached the final with Aston Villa in 2015 and thinks the effect on a club is so positive that Javi Gracia should prioritise a cup run.

Tom Cleverley has commented on why he feels Watford should aim for a good run in the FA Cup this season.
The Hornets never appeared in danger of falling to a giant-killing as they dominated proceedings at Woking in the third round on Sunday.
The unmarked Will Hughes opened the scoring as he swept the ball into the bottom corner of the net after 13 minutes at the Laithwaite Community Stadium.
Troy Deeney then added the killer second when he slotted in Ken Sema’s cross from point-blank range, just three minutes after coming on as a substitute in the second half.
Cleverley, who made his first Watford start in almost a year following hamstring and Achilles issues, as stated on Transfermarkt, spoke after the game and urged the Premier League club to take the competition seriously.
The 29-year-old reached the final of the cup while at Aston Villa as they lost to Arsenal in 2015 and said the effect on the West Midlands club was very beneficial, hence why he’d like something similar at Vicarage Road.

“From my experience, what a cup run did for Villa when I was there, we got to the final, it was massive for the club,” he told BT Sport.
“It improved our league season, it improved the atmosphere around the club. It’s game by game and you need a bit of luck in the draw but I think we should be looking to have a bit of a run. It’s great for every club.”
Watford will take on either Newcastle United or Blackburn Rovers in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
